We offer a great option for caring for a parent with dementia.
There is no debate that caring for a parent with dementia is a challenging situation. Your parents spent a lifetime caring for you and now that the roles are reversed and they need your help, you want to do everything you can to make their life happy and comfortable. The reality is that the time commitment alone can make caring for a parent with dementia more involved than you might be able to handle. There is no shame in seeking help and here at The Almost Home Group, we offer a solution that will provide the care they need at a level you can feel good about.
When most people are faced with caring for a parent with dementia, they struggle with the disadvantages that a nursing home involves. The clinical environment, low staff-to-patient ratios, and lack of a personalized care plan are very good reasons to want to find something besides a lock-down facility. Our alternative to traditional nursing homes will give your parent the environment most like their own home or yours. We operate three residential homes in the Piedmont Triad, North Carolina area with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and ample common areas with a high staff-to-resident ratio, so your parent will feel right at home.
We focus on familiarity because that is what makes dementia patients feel safe. Our homes have been decorated with furniture and accessories in the 1950s, 60s, and 70s décor style so they’ll be able to more easily make the transition from their home to ours. If you would like to arrange a tour, either drop in or call to make an appointment. We’ll be happy to show you around and answer any questions you may have about how we can assist with caring for a parent with dementia in a way that makes you and your parent comfortable.
